The new-generation Mahindra Thar is scheduled to arrive in April 2020.

Expected to be a completely new vehicle, the new-generation Mahindra Thar will be a more comfortable and road-oriented SUV that makes it stand in line with other daily commute vehicles in the market. The new suspension setup at the front of the new Thar will make it a safer car to drive than the previous-gen model. Aside from being a more road-oriented SUV, the 2020 Mahindra Thar is expected to be more comfort-oriented too. The interior space will be more spacious to make enough room for additional features on the inside. It is anticipated to come up with a revised dashboard, new instrument cluster with a MID unit, multifunction steering, touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, etc.

Now that Mahindra has confirmed its all-new Thar will conform to the new stricter BSVI norms, powering the upcoming SUV will be a fresh BSVI-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine that might be tuned to make 140 PS of max power and 300 Nm of peak torque. Power will be sent to the four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Once launched, the Mahindra SUV will take on the like of next-gen Force Gurkha in the Indian space.
