Next-gen BSVI-compliant 2020 Mahindra Thar will be a completely new SUV over the old one. India launch has been confirmed for April 2020.
A couple of weeks ago, reports suggested that the all-new Mahindra Thar would take its wraps off at 2020 Auto Expo in February while the launch should take place at a little later date. Now, in the company’s latest development, Mahindra has announced that the next-gen Thar will be launched in India in April 2020.
Mahindra is in the works to introduce the next-generation Mahindra Thar in India.
Allegedly, the 2020 Mahindra Thar will join with the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio to get an updated ladder-frame chassis. As per a batch of spy pics, the new-gen Thar will get an increase in terms of dimensions compared to the preceding version. Also, it will be all ready to take the crash tests under BNVSAP thanks to better build quality and upgraded safety kits.
The new-generation Mahindra Thar is scheduled to arrive in April 2020.
Expected to be a completely new vehicle, the new-generation Mahindra Thar will be a more comfortable and road-oriented SUV that makes it stand in line with other daily commute vehicles in the market. The new suspension setup at the front of the new Thar will make it a safer car to drive than the previous-gen model. Aside from being a more road-oriented SUV, the 2020 Mahindra Thar is expected to be more comfort-oriented too. The interior space will be more spacious to make enough room for additional features on the inside. It is anticipated to come up with a revised dashboard, new instrument cluster with a MID unit, multifunction steering, touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, etc.
The all-new Thar will take on the likes of Force Gurkha when it's launched in India.
Now that Mahindra has confirmed its all-new Thar will conform to the new stricter BSVI norms, powering the upcoming SUV will be a fresh BSVI-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine that might be tuned to make 140 PS of max power and 300 Nm of peak torque. Power will be sent to the four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Once launched, the Mahindra SUV will take on the like of next-gen Force Gurkha in the Indian space.
