Showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, the 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza is now powered by a 1.5-litre K-series petrol engine. The car also gets mild-hybrid assistance for better fuel-efficiency. The engine produces 105PS of max power and 138Nm of peak torque. The pre-facelift version of the Brezza came with a 1.3-litre VGT diesel engine that generated peak power and torque figures of 90PS and 200Nm. This engine was only BS4-compliant and couldn’t be upgraded to meet BS6-norms, which is why it has been discontinued entirely. The new petrol engine is BS6-compliant and is also shared with other Maruti models like Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6, and the new S-Cross.

Apart from the switch from diesel to petrol powerplant, there aren’t many changes on the new 2020 Maruti Brezza. The front grille and bumper have been revised, the design of the taillights has altered a little, and the headlights are now LED. The design of the alloy wheels has also changed, dual-tone with ten alloy spokes. The overall look, however, remains largely the same as before. The silhouette of the car has stayed identical, as have the dimensions, body cladding, and the design of the A-, B-, C-Pillars, etc.

The interior of the facelifted Brezza remains unchanged, except for the addition of the latest Smartplay Studio being offered in the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. You also get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity on deck. Safety is also well taken care of, with the Brezza scoring 4-star rating in Global NCAP.

The Maruti Brezza was first introduced to the Indian market back in 2014, and it has since been the best-seller in its segment. It was dethroned once for a few months when Hyundai Venue was launched, but that was counteracted soon by Maruti. As for the new model, the prices are expected to start from Rs. 7.8 all the way up to Rs. 10.8 Lakh (both prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).
