Bentley Bentayga Hybrid is finally revealed. The debut of this plug-in hybrid model marks the begin of Bentley's long-term electrification plan.
Up to this point, there is no doubt that electric vehicles are the future of the automotive industry. Car brands across the globe are speeding up in electrifying their vehicle ranges, getting ready for the EV-dominating future. The same goes for Bentley Motors. The British supercar brand has set up its plan for the electrification of all its vehicles by 2030.
Launching Bentley Bentayga Hybrid is the first step in Bentley's electrification plan
As the first step of its long-term plan, Bentley has recently revealed the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid. This model is one of the two plug-in hybrid models from Bentley that are slated to enter the market this year. The newly-launched hybrid model is based on the famous Bentayga. Last year, Bentley unveiled the facelifted Bentayga on the global market.
Exterior-wise, the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid is mostly identical to its ICE counterpart. The only distinctive styling feature of the new hybrid model is the Hybrid badge located on the front fender. The spotlight of the new hybrid model is saved for the mechanical setting. Under the hood, Bentley Bentayga Hybrid keeps a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. This engine teams up with an electric motor to belt out a combined power output of 449hp and 770Nm.
The plug-in hybrid system allows the car to fully run on pure EV mode. It is claimed that the hybrid powertrain can provide a range of 50 km using only electric power. In combination with the internal combustion engine, the Bentayga hybrid can offer a range of 863 km. In addition, 17.3kWh lithium battery used on the Bentayga hybrid has an expected lifespan of 160,000km or up to eight years.
Bentley Bentayga Hybrid is based on the Bentley Bentayga facelift launched last year
About the charging system, the electric battery takes up two and a haft hours to get fully charged from empty. Moreover, in order to increase efficiency, this plug-in hybrid model comes with Bentley Hybrid Efficiency Navigation drive mode.
On the inside, Bentley Bentayga Hybrid is fitted with a 10.9-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay support, fully-digital instrument cluster and redesigned centre console.
There is no detail regarding the possibility of Bentley Bentayga Hybrid launch in India. However, it is expected that the Bentley Bentayga facelift will make its debut this year in our market at the price of around Rs 4 crore (ex-showroom).
