Mahindra has updated the 1.5L diesel engine of the XUV300 to meet BS-6 emission compliance. However, with the updated engine, the prices of the car remain unchanged as of now.

Mahindra has updated its XUV300 compact SUV with a BS-6 diesel engine. It may be noted that the petrol variants of the car were updated with the BS-6 compliant motor last year in December. With the updated BS-6 diesel engine, Mahindra has not hiked the car’s price. It starts at Rs. 8.69 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs. 12.69 lakh. These prices are identical to the BS-4 version of the car. With the updated engine, the XUV300 will now miss out on the option of AMT in the W8 trim, although, the W6 and W8(O) trim will continue to offer the accessibility of an AMT.

Although, the max. torque is calculated at 300 Nm as in BS-4 state of tune. The 4-cylinder turbocharged unit will continue to be offered with 2 transmission options – a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT.

The XUV300 currently features a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol motor that belts out a peak power output of 110 BHP and 200 Nm of max. torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Mahindra showcased a powerful Sportz variant of the XUV300 at the recently concluded 2020 Auto expo. It had a mStallion turbocharged petrol motor, which displaced 1.2L of air-fuel volume to produce 130 HP and 230 Nm. It is expected to be launched around festive season this year.

However, it will be at least Rs. 50,000 dearer than the regular 115 BHP petrol engine. With this new engine, the XUV300 will become the most powerful car in its segment. The new mStallion series of engines will be shared among the Ford cars as well. The first one of the lot would be the Ecosport, which will get the 1.2L mStallion petrol motor after the launch of Sportz variant of XUV300.
