Despite a decline in sales due to the Kerala floods and a rise in its products’ price in the past month, Honda is still experiencing an upward general trend.

In August, the company sold 17,020 units as compared to the 19,970 units in the previous month, which means that it sales have witnessed a decrease of nearly 3000 units in one month, accounting for 2%. Honda has associated the downturn in its sales with the Kerala floods and a sudden increase in the price of its products.

Commenting on the car sales in August 2018, Honda India, SVP and Director, Marketing and Sales, Rajesh Goel said:

“There was an impact of Kerala floods and heavy rains in many parts of the country combined with GST related high base effect of Aug 17. We hope to recover quickly and keep growing strongly with a rollout of attractive offers starting from today through the festive season ahead.”

Despite the monthly decline in the number of cars sold, the total sum from April to August has increased by more than 9%, in comparison with that in the same period of 2017. The successful new-gen Honda Amaze has contributed a large part to the 79,599 cars sold in the past five months. Thanks to the overall upward trend, Honda will release the CR-V soon and the Civic at the end of this year.

As usual, the WR-V and the City have had a steady development in sales. The all-new Jazz is also likely to increase in sales in the festive season.
