Updated Kia Sonet to Get Paddle Shifters for Automatic Variants

Back in September 2020, Kia Motors launched the Sonet in our market. In just eight month's time, the carmaker is now all set to introduce the first update of the SUV in India. Recently, the automaker announced that in the first quarter of this year, they retailed 25,000 units of Sonet. As part of the new update, the new model of the SUV will get Kia’s new badge, a couple of new variants and some added features across the range as standard. Here’s a recent walk around video of the car, which shows that the updated Kia Sonet will be with paddle shifters.

This video is uploaded by a YouTube channel named ARK MOTO VLOGS. The Kia SUV you see here is the HTX variant of the car with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit, which comes paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The carmaker has added a new HTX trim to the variant lineup of Sonet. The new trim has been introduced as a replacement of the Kia Sonet HTK+ variant, which was powered by a 1.0-litre turbo diesel unit mated to a 7-speed DCT. The addition of paddle shifters in the 1.0-litre turbo petrol DCT trims, which surely attract a lot of people as it makes the SUV a more appealing package. Right now, no automatic trims of the SUV are offered with paddle shifters. Reports suggest that this feature will also be offered with the 1.5-litre diesel engine, which comes coupled to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox in a similar HTX variant.

Along with the new HTX trim, the paddle shifters with the top-end GTX+ variant. The HTX variant of Kia Sonet will also get additional features like 16-inch alloy units, which will replace the steel wheels with wheel covers. The Kia Sonet HTX is a mid-spec variant, and apart from the features mentioned above, it will get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, remote engine start from smart key, ESC, cruise control, traction control, multiple driving modes, hill assist control and much more.
