Maruti S-Cross Petrol Bookings Open, SHVS Mild-hybrid Confirmed

Earlier, Maruti Suzuki released a teaser image for the launch of the S-Cross petrol while also confirming the date of its launch as August 5. However, it is only now that the carmaker has started accepting the pre-launch bookings for the S-Cross petrol. The crossover can be booked by visiting the nearest Nexa dealership or by logging in to the Maruti Nexa’s portal. It can be booked against a sum of Rs.11,000. Along with confirmation of acceptance of pre-launch bookings, Maruti has also confirmed that the S-Cross Petrol will feature the SHVS mild-hybrid system. Also, it must be mentioned here that the car will continue to look identical to its diesel iteration. Thus, it would get the same old design on the outside and as well as on the inside.

Speaking on the commencement of the pre-bookings, Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “S-Cross enjoys a special place in the NEXA portfolio as its flagship product and has been appreciated by over 1.25 lakh customers for its premium interiors, stylish and masculine design. Talking of the new petrol engine for the S-Cross, it will be the same K15B motor that also does duties on the recently updated Vitara Brezza. The 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine is capable of churning out a peak power output of 105 PS and max torque of 138 Nm. To transmit the power to the wheels, it will come with two transmission option – 5-speed MT and 4-speed AT. Also, Maruti will offer the motor fitted with the SHVS mild-hybrid system as standard to boost the overall performance and fuel efficiency of the S-Cross.

In terms of features, the S-Cross, in its petrol-only avatar, should get an updated features list. That said, the differences are likely to be limited to the addition of the updated SmartPlay Studio infotainment system. It will boast of 7-inch screen size and come with multiple connectivity options such as BlueTooth, Aux-in, USB and more. Also, it will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
