Maruti Swift Gets A New Touchscreen Infotainment Unit

The Maruti Swift is now available with an updated Smartplay Studio touchscreen infotainment unit that will offer smartphone connectivity and live traffic updates

India’s biggest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has silently updated the touchscreen infotainment system offered on the Swift. The hatchback now gets a new 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay Studio infotainment system. The updated system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and offers in-built navigation with live traffic updates and voice commands. The infotainment unit also supports Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB. Except for the addition of an updated SmartPlay Studio unit, no other changes have been made to the hatchback.

It continues to derive power from a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol mill that produces 82bhp of power and 113Nm of twisting force. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a 5-speed AMT as optional. In coming months, the carmaker will replace the ongoing 1.2-litre petrol mill with another version of the 1.2-litre unit that benefits from Dualjet technology.

The same powertrain option is also offered with the 2020 Maruti Dzire. The new Dualjet unit will be more potent and fuel-efficient compared to the ongoing engine. The powertrain offered with the updated Maruti Dzire puts out 90 PS of peak power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The new compact sedan is rated to offer a mileage of 23.26 kmpl (MT) and 24.14 kmpl (AMT).

Moreover, recent reports suggest that Maruti has plans to replace the 1.2-litre K12B petrol mill with the new Dualjet motor in the WagonR and Ignis hatchback as well. The upcoming 2020 Maruti Swift facelift is also expected to employ subtle cosmetical changes along with the addition of a few new features. The facelift model will likely get Dzire-inspired front grille, revised front and rear bumpers, newly-designed fog lamp housing and a new of set alloy wheels. The updated infotainment unit will continue to be on offer with the upcoming facelifted model. One can also expect the hatchback to offer features like hill hold assist and ESC (electronic stability control).
