The all-new Mahindra Thar will feature cruise control as an added convenience feature. The new-gen off-roader is expected to hit the Indian shores in October this year.

Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the new-gen Thar in the Indian market in coming months. The all-new Thar will be followed by the new-gen XUV500, which is expected to launch by the first half of next year. We’ve spotted the all-new Thar a few times while getting tested on public roads. As compared to its predecessor, the upcoming Thar will be bigger in dimensions and will be offered in several seating and roof configurations. Here’s a new video of the new-gen Mahindra Thar, which shows the fully camouflaged production-ready model inside and out.

Talking about its design, the upcoming Mahindra Thar will get an aggressive front bumper, circular headlamps, LED DRLs mounted horizontally on the fender, multiple slat grille and LED taillights. Moreover, inside, the Mahindra off-roader will get a new cabin with a few added features and new equipment.

New-Gen Mahindra Thar To Feature Cruise Control

The cabin of the all-new Mahindra Thar will be plusher compared to its predecessor. Once launched, it’ll compete with the likes of new-gen Force Gurkha and Suzuki Jimny. The upcoming Mahindra off-roader will come loaded with features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, electrically adjustable side mirrors, multiple USB ports, cruise control, new seats, control knobs and dashboard.

The all-new Mahindra Thar will be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit, which develops 140bhp of peak power. The SUV will also be offered with a new 2.0-litre mStallion four-pot gasoline engine that produces 160bhp of power output. Transmission duties will be done by a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, and the power will be sent to all four wheels. The car will be offered in the hard-top version, which will make the new Mahindra Thar much safer and practical for everyday use.  Moreover, a few Mahindra dealerships around the country have also unofficially started accepting bookings of the car.
