Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi JV is planning to launch 7 new vehicles in Brazil. All of them will be underpinned by the CMF-B platform, which also expected to be shared with the next-gen versions of India-spec Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster.

For the Brazil market, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance has confirmed that they will add 7 new models which are based on the CMF-B platform. Recently, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi has introduced its new strategy for its upcoming products. As a part of the future plan, the alliance will introduce a total of 7 new cars in Brazil. All of these new cars will be based on the new CMF-B platform which is jointly developed by the alliance.

It is revealed that the seven new vehicles will be comprised of two sedans, two hatchbacks, and three SUVs. The three SUVs in question are the next-gen iteration of the Kicks, Duster, and Captur. All of which will be powered by HR13 1.3L TCe turbo-petrol engine. The next-gen Renault Captur, in particular, will be developed on the modular CMF-B platform. Sandero, March, Logan and Versa will be the remaining four models that will go on sale in Brazil.

Among these seven models, the alliance only offers the three SUVs: Kicks, Duster and Captur in India. These models are currently underpinned by the B0 platform which has been in use for more than a decade now. However, in the global markets, Renault has introduced the second-gen Duster. Sadly the Indian market continues to get the facelifted version of the first-gen Duster. Talking of the CMF-B underpinned Duster, it is expected to make its way to the Indian market, as Renault will not be bringing the outgoing international-spec car in India.

The CMF-B platform is expected to be used on the next-generation of India-spec Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster.

Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi’s plan for the Brazilian market also suggested that the alliance will extend the use of the CMF-B platform on its international range. India-spec models will also receive the same treatment. Currently, the CMF-A platform is widely used on the alliance’s range of compact cars. Later this year, Nissan will be launching the Magnite sub-four-meter SUV while Renault is preparing for the launch of a sub-4-meter SUV and sub-4-meter sedan. As for the existing Duster and Captur, they are about to get a new 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing a peak power output of 154 Bhp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. The transmission options for this engine are expected to be either a 6-speed MT and a CVT.
