Launched on January 23, the Nissan Kicks has the first successful month in India with 1,380 units sold in January 2019, contributing a great deal to the 55% sales increase of the Japanese automaker last month.

While January 2019 was a sad month for many Indian auto manufacturers with stagnant or even negative sales increase, it was a successful month for Nissan with a 55% sales hike. Last month, its total sales number was 1,500 units in comparison with 966 units in the same period last year. The Nissan Kicks SUV, which is a necessary complement to Nissan portfolio in India to bring a new breeze of enthusiasm into the company, played an important role in this growth with up to 1,380 units sold last month.

Underpinned by the refined version of the B0 platform which also supports the Duster and the Terrano, the Nissan Kicks is powered by the same 1.5L petrol engine and a 1.5L diesel motor as its older brothers.  In comparison with the global-spec Kicks SUV which is supported by the V-platform, the India-bound model has grown in dimensions and also got an enhanced exterior. The Kicks SUV also measures greater in length and width than the segment dominator, Hyundai Creta, which has recorded a sales number of more than 10,000 units a month. The heavily-localised platform has also helped Nissan price the Kicks SUV at a competitive range, from INR 9.55 lakh to INR. 14.65 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
