Last year, the Japanese automaker Nissan launched its first-ever sub-4m compact-SUV in the Indian market named Magnite. As per recent reports, the SUV has crossed the 40,000 booking mark as the demand for the car is pretty high. The automaker has started the third shift to increase the production of the Nissan Magnite, which will further help in decreasing the waiting period of the SUV. With a warm response from the Indian audience, the Nissan Magnite received around 5,000 bookings in just five days of its launch, and last month, this number got increased up to 32,800 bookings, and by now, the Nissan SUV has crossed 40,000 bookings.

In a recent interview, Rakesh Srivastava, MD, Nissan Indian said, “As far as the current numbers are concerned, we’ve already crossed 40,000 bookings, and we crossed them in the early parts of February. And the good part exactly is that the customers have appreciated the product, they have appreciated the brand connect, and they are willing to wait. Most of them [customers] are early adopters to the brand and the product.”

The current waiting period for Nissan Magnite is around six months. The booking period of the SUV depends on different factors like the city or the trim you opt for. To meet this high demand, the automaker has introduced a third shift at their Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu to ramp up production. According to Mr Rakesh Srivastava, the third shift will help in cutting down the waiting period to around two to three months. He said, “The third shift was initiated in early February, and the plant has employed more than 1,000 workforces towards doing this.”

Talking about Nissan Magnite, it gets propelled by a 1.0-litre NA petrol and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill. The former puts out 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of peak torque, while the latter is capable of shredding out power and torque outputs of 99 PS and 160 Nm, respectively. The NA mill is offered with a 5-speed MT, while the turbocharged unit comes paired with a 5-speed MT or a CVT.
