Geneva Motor Show 2019 will be the stage for Tata to introduce the new Tata Hornbill Concept, which has been codenamed as Tata X445.

Tata Motors has revealed its future plan of launching six models, including the upcoming Tata Harrier. Along with Harrier, the company has also teased the Tata Hornbill as one of the upcoming models. All of these models have been designed as per the IMPACT 2.0 design language. From the teaser image, the Hornbill seems to possess a macho design with a clamshell bonnet, flared wheel arches, and taut surfaces. Underpinning the Hornbill is the same Advanced Modular Platform that forms the base of the upcoming Tata Aquilla (Tata 45X). That said, the platform will be reworked and will have a shorter wheelbase than the hatchback by 30mm.

In terms of engine, the Hornbill will feature a new 1.2-litre petrol engine but will miss on the mild-hybrid system. It is also unlikely that this crossover will come with a diesel engine. Considering the costly price of a BSVI-compliant diesel engine, it might not be a wise choice for the carmaker to include a diesel option.

For the Indian market, Tata Hornbill Concept might make its first appearance at the Auto Expo 2020, so expect the launch to take place in mid-2020. When launched, it will sit under the Tata Nexon in the company's model range and will compete directly with the Maruti Ignis. For 2019, we have the upcoming Tata Harrier and Tata Aquilla to look forward to.
