The SUV is built on the TNGA-C platform, which is used on the latest Corolla Altis and the C-HR. Meanwhile, the RAV4 is based on the expensive TNGA-K platform that even underpins the premium sedan Camry. For that reason, the Toyota Corolla Cross will be more affordable than the RAV4. On the inside, the Toyota Corolla Cross is available with some upmarket features like automatic climate system, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree parking camera, blind spot detector, cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.

The electric motor used on the hybrid Corolla Cross is a 600-volt permanent magnet synchronous unit that can produce a maximum power of 72 PS and a top torque of 163 Nm. When combined with the petrol engine, the hybrid powertrain system can unleash a total power of 122 Bhp. The upcoming SUV is developed for developing markets like Thailand, Indonesia, and Brazil. In Thailand, the crossover will take on the likes of Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-30, Subaru XV and Jeep Compass.
