VW T-ROC Launched, Costlier Than Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson

The much anticipated VW T-Roc has finally gone on sale in the country', following its first appearance at the Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year. The T-Roc is among the four new SUVs the company has planned for India. It has been launched at an introductory price of Rs.19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, prices of the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson start at Rs 16.49 lakh and R 18.76 lakh, respectively. The new model is on sale in only one, fully-loaded variant.

Deliveries of the T-Roc will commence from April 2020 and the new SUV will come to India via the CBU route. The all-new Volkswagen T-Roc will be available in six colour options - Deep Black Pearl, Curcuma Yellow & Black Roof, Energetic Orange & Black Roof, Pure White & Black Roof, Ravenna Blue & Black Roof anad Indium Grey & Black Roof. Among the six options, there is only one single tone colour scheme which is the Deep Black Pearl. The rest features dual-tone combination, which promises to bring in a sporty vibe for the car.

Volkswagen T-Roc comes equipped with some segment-leading features, including LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, Vienna leather seats, Digital cockpit with an 11.7-inch virtual instrument cluster and Panoramic sunroof. The safety features on offer include Hill Start Assist (HSA), 6 airbags, Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), Motor-Schleppmoment-Regelung (MSR) or engine drag torque control and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Based on the MQB platform, VW T-Roc is positioned below the VW Tiguan in Volkswagen’s line-up. The use of the MQB platform is expected to deliver outstanding driving dynamics.

Powered by a 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine, the Volkswagen T-Roc runs with a peak power output of 150 PS and a peak torque of 250 Nm. It will come with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

From the beginning, Volkswagen will import the T-Roc as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). India-spec Volkswagen T-Roc is produced at Setubal plant in Portugal. The T-Roc will compete with the likes of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson.
