Hyundai will most-likely be launching the new-gen Hyundai i20 in the Indian market by festive season this year. Before the country-wide lockdown was imposed, the carmaker launched the Verna facelift and new-gen Creta in our market. Earlier, the all-new hatchback was scheduled to launch in June this year but the event got delayed due to the current situation. The new-gen Hyundai i20 will feature distinctive looks, increased level of equipment, and new powertrain options. The silhouette of the new model will also be different than that of the outgoing car to make it look sportier. Once launched, the all-new hatchback will compete with the likes of Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza (re-badged Baleno). But, what will it have as an extra over the two to dominate the competition? Here are 7 features the new-gen i20 that are not available in any of its rivals.
Cruise control is considered as one of the important features for cars nowadays. In this segment, the new Hyundai i20 is not the first car to be offered with this feature. VW Polo and Honda Jazz are also offered with this feature, but both Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza miss out on its convenience.
New-gen i20 will be the first one to get a sunroof in all of its generations that were on sale in the country. In India, several test mules of the new-gen i20 have been spotted with an electric sunroof. However, the addition of an electric sunroof will make the cabin of the car airier and more lucrative to buyers, as sunroof is coming up as a new halo feature.
Ambient Mood Lighting
Ambient mood lighting is now a new additional feature that has recently started coming up in budget cars. The new-gen Hyundai Creta is the first car in Hyundai’s stable to be offered with this feature, now followed by the all-new i20.
Hyundai’s latest BlueLink Technology will also be offered with the new-gen Hyundai i20. It enables features like remote lock/unlock, geofencing, remote AC control, and more. Also, the BlueLink tech lets the owner access all the information about the car from the smartphone app itself.

The all-new Hyundai i20 will offer rear AC vents from the mid-spec trim. This feature is quite useful for a hot and humid country like India. however, the base variants of the new-gen i20 will not be offered with this feature.
Due to the new BS6 emission norms, many carmakers have discontinued diesel engines from their line-up. On the contrary, the new-gen Hyundai i20 will be powered by 1.5-litre oil-burner, which puts out power and torque outputs of 100 PS and 240 Nm. Also, it will have 2 more engine options to let the buyers rejoice with choices.
Digital Instrument Cluster
The all-new Hyundai i20 will also feature a fully-digital instrument console, similar to the one offered with the Verna facelift. The new instrument console will display all the relevant information regarding the vehicle like distance to empty, trip meter, odometer, speedometer, service indicator and so on.
