1. Ford Aspire 2018 Introduction

It has been almost 3 years since the current generation Ford Figo Aspire was introduced to the Indian market. Although the carmaker has yet to announce any plan for the next-gen Aspire, it's recently brought a slight makeover to the top-spec Ford Aspire. Ever since its launch into our country in 2015, it was considered as one of the serious competitors of the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest and has been predicted to "set the new standards for small car model in Indian market as it possesses "leading-edge safety features" and "advanced technology".

Designed to meet the needs of Indian consumers, the Ford Figo Aspire 2018 is a sedan that owns the overall length of fewer than 4 meters. Thereby, the Ford Figo Aspire 2018 would be subject to a lower tax rate in the Indian market.

First of all, the design does not look abrupt especially at the rear. However, the other parts of the car are well designed. In fact, it comes as a surprise that it is a sub-4 meter car, most people won’t be able to tell because it does look like a properly sized sedan. 3. Ford Aspire 2018 Interior

The interior gets a pleasure with a sophisticated and functional looking dashboard. It is very similar to other Ford cars of this generation which immediately reminds us of other Ford models.

The bottom of the center console is the “house” for the HVAC switch, 12V socket, USB port and AUX. Being small but nice, the Ford Figo Aspire 2018 comes with a spacious legroom for the second row. 4. Ford Aspire 2018 Performance

4.1. Engine

The India Figo Aspire 2018 offers three engine options - a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol, a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel, and a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engines. Smallest of the three, the 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and churns out a maximum power output of 87bhp and a peak torque of 112Nm. The bigger petrol engine - 1.5-litre Ti-VCT - comes mated to the segment-first 6-speed dual-clutch automatic, and churns out 110bhp and 136Nm. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine churns out 99bhp and 215 Nm.

4.2. Fuel mileage

When it comes to fuel mileage, it depends on how hard you push the engine. If it is a hard pushing, it will return around 15 to 17 KMPL. If it is slowly pushing drive, or on less-congested roads, most of the times, a mileage of around 17 to 20 KMPL would be expected. It also can get around 22.6 KMPL on a 300 Km long highway commute when driving between 60 to 100 KMPH with few stops. For most users, it is easily expected around 17 to 18 KMPL with regular in-city use of this car, which can be considered a great mileage.

4.3. Handling

The Ford Aspire is positioned in a segment inherently focused on value and practicality. While the Aspire does deliver well on both these parameters, it offers something extra that most of its competitors miss out on. As you would've guessed it by now, that extra thing is driving pleasure. Although the Aspire isn't as good as the older Figo or the Fiesta, it offers a good balance between comfort and handling. The handling of the car is quite precise with a well-weighted steering.

It's obviously very adept at handling city runs. But, the surprise with the Aspire is its back road hill-climb ability. It doesn't have enough power to make its tyres squeal around hairpins. But, the engine provides enough poke for a quick ascent, and the chassis ensures minimal roll while you're at it. Moreover, ride quality over bad roads (and even no roads) leaves no room for complaint.
