The American carmaker Ford has discontinued the Trend trim of diesel Figo, Freestyle and Aspire. The entry-level trim of the diesel variants of all three cars have been removed from the company’s official website. Thus, the entry point for the diesel variant of these cars has now moved to the Titanium variant. After the introduction of stringent BS6 norms, Ford discontinued the Ambiente diesel trim of all three cars. Now the automaker has also discontinued the Trend variant. The petrol trim options of Figo, Aspire and Freestyle remain the same. Due to the low demand of entry-level diesel cars, many carmakers have discontinued offering diesel powertrains with the hatchback and sub-4-meter sedans.

Ford is among those few carmakers who are still offering their models with a diesel engine. The main reason behind the discontinuation of the base trims of diesel-powered Figo, Freestyle and Aspire can be their low demand. As most of the buyers only prefer buying the top-spec trims of a diesel car because they come loaded with all the bells and whistles. Talking about the Ford Freestyle, Aspire and Figo, all three cars derive power from a 1.5-litre, four-pot diesel engine, which develops 99 Bhp of power and 215 Nm of twisting force. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT. It is rated to offer 24.4 kmpl of fuel-efficiency. They also get propelled by a 1.2-litre, three-pot petrol engine, which develops power and torque outputs of 95 Bhp and 119 Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed MT.
