Bookings for the 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza BS6 have been underway and the facelift of the long-standing Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport rival already commands a month-long waiting period

The 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza BS6 model debuted at the Auto Expo 2020, where it enthralled the show-goers with a host of minor changes it carries, along with a brand-spanking-new petrol motor under its hood in the form of the K-series 1.5-litre mill from Ciaz and Ertiga. The Brezza will launch in the coming days and have already reached the dealership stockyards. Our source informs us that the response to the new model has been so good that it already commands a waiting period of over 1 month even before the price announcement.

Unlike the pre-facelift model, which came equipped with a Fiat-origin 1.3-litre DDiS turbocharged diesel engine, the new model carries a 1.5-litre K-Series motor that has been borrowed from the Ciaz and the Ertiga. The oil-burner has been shelved owing to its inability to comply with BSVI emission norms. The new powerplant will be avaialble with two engine options - 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic. The latter will even feature the company's SHVS mild-hybrid technology that is already being offered on the aforementioned donoe vehicles. Compared to the diesel mill's peak power-torque output of 90PS-200Nm, the new motor offers 105 PS and 138 Nm.

The manual transmission-equipped variant has an ARAI-tested fuel mileage of 17.03 kmpl, while the automatic model will offer 18.76 kmpl. The new model wil be sold in four trims - LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. The top-spec trim will be available with a handful of premium features, including LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, dual-tone machined alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, reverse parking camera, auto-dimming IRVM, auto headlamps, sliding front armrest with cupholders, rain-sensing wipers, and electric-folding ORVMs. Safety features across all the trims will include ABS, dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat restraints, speed-sensing door locks, impact-sensing door unlock, seatbelt reminder for front passengers and high speed alert.

New Maruti Vitara Brezza BS6 Reaches Dealerships, Already Commands A Month-long Waiting

The new Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift will be launched in 7 variants and 9 colour options.

The 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza will lock horns with Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. Interestingly, all these sub-4-metre compact SUVs will continue to offer a diesel engien option in the BSVI era, but it remains to be seen if the absence of the same on the Brezza would lead to decrease in its popularity.
