2020 Tata Nexon Becomes Top-selling Tata Car Last Month

Tata Nexon was the top-selling car in the automaker’s stable last month. Tata Motors has now become the third top carmaker in India.  

As per recent reports, Tata Motors has registered total cumulative domestic sales of 53,430 units last month. In the Indian market, the automaker retailed 23,545 units as compared to the 12,785 units sold in the same month in 2019. The carmaker recorded a sales growth of 84 per cent courtesy of Nexon, Altroz, Tiago and Harrier. Last month, the car retailed 6,835 units of Nexon as against 4,350 units sold in the same month in 2019. This makes the Tata Nexon, company’s top-selling car for December. The Altroz recorded a sale of 6,600 units and the Tiago hatchback registered a total sales of 6,066 units as against to 4,558 units sold in December 2019.

Tata Harrier was the best fourth-selling car in the automaker’s stable with a total sale of 2,223 units, which is followed by Tata Tigor, which registers sales of 1,882 units. Last month, Tata Motors become the third-largest carmaker in India after Maruti and Hyundai. As per reports, Tata has plans to launch the Altroz iTurbo by this month. It is scheduled to hit the Indian shores on 13th January 2021. Mechanically, it will derive power from a 1.2-litre, three-pot turbocharged petrol mill, which develops 110 PS of peak power and 140 Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed MT. The automaker has plans to introduce a new DCT gearbox with the premium hatchback at a later stage.

After the introduction of Altroz iTurbo, the carmaker will launch its new flagship SUV- Tata Safari. The all-new Tata Safari will be the production-ready version Gravitas and will be based on the company’s Omega platform. This is the same platform, which also underpins Tata Harrier. Mechanically, it’ll get propelled by a 20-litre Kryotec, turbo diesel mill, which shreds out 170bhp of power and will comes paired with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The same powertrain option does duties in Tata Harrier.
