2021 Ford EcoSport to Have Front Camera?

Launched for the first time in the Indian market in 2013, Ford EcoSport continues to be the best-selling Ford car in the country. However, it is now almost a decade old and is due for a major update. Well, we already know that Ford is working on an updated model that is likely to go on sale sometime next year. Now, in a fresh development, it has been reported that 2021 Ford EcoSport will don futuristic styling and come packed with some first-in-segment features, which include a front camera. Recently, a Ford SUV was spied with vertically-split headlamps, and it was speculated to be the upcoming Ford C-SUV that will be based on the new-gen Mahindra XUV500. However, the aforementioned report claims that this image is instead of the 2021 Ford EcoSport.

On closely observing the spy shot, we could find out a small camera under the Ford logo which was placed on the radiator grille. This comes up as a hint that new-gen Ford EcoSport will come with either a 360-degree parking camera or front & rear parking cameras. Talking of the styling, it can be seen in the spy image that it gets LED whiskers in the massive radiator grille, while the actual headlamp assembly has moved down to the bumper’s extreme edges. From this small glimpse, the car looks good.

Based on the spy image, our in-house rendering specialist – Shoeb R. Kalania made a digital rendering of the front profile of the upcoming Ford SUV. It does look modern and appealing from the front, and we expect that Ford will continue to retain this same youthful theme on the sides and the rear profile as well.

Since Ford and Mahindra now have a JV in the Indian market, the new-gen EcoSport is likely to be developed on Mahindra XUV300’s platform. Moreover, the 2021 Ford EcoSport is expected to come with the same engine options as the XUV300. There will be a 1.2L mStallion turbo-petrol motor that can put out a rated power output of 130 PS and max torque of 230 Nm. Alongside, a 1.5L oil burner will also be offered as an option. The XUV300-sourced diesel engine will put out a max power and torque output of 117 PS and 300 Nm, respectively. The transmission options will include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AMT.
