New pictures of the upcoing Audi Q2L E-tron reveal closer details about its final production model, ahead of its debut at Auto Shanghai 2019

With China becoming a dominant power in the future of electric mobility, in fact with China also happening to be the largest and fastest growing car market in the world, period, several major car makers are now scrambling to launch China-only electric vehicles by the dozen. German car major Audi has plans to debut its own China-only Audi Q2L E-tron at next month at Auto Shanghai 2019. The car has even been spied several times being spied in real-world condition in Germany and China but usually under heavy camouflage or some sort of usual disguise. However, recent leaked photos have caught the new Audi Q2L E-tron completely undisguised and in its final production form, way before the actual show opens to public.

The Audi Q2L e-tron is a China-only EV that is based on the long wheelbase version of the standard Q2

The pictures which were uncovered by Indian Autos Blog, show minor difference from the final version to the one doing duty at press announcement around the globe. The major change being the front grille. While the show cars showed off a single-piece grill with a clean look, the final version will have a single-piece grille with six vertical slats running across, while the lower half of the grille is closed off and finished in gray, a signature look for Audi’s E-tron line-up. This was also first seen adorning the company’s first and flagship e-tron SUV. Another minute addition to the car, as seen in the leaked photos, is Chinese badges at the rear above the model designation.

In case you are reading this and still have no clue about the Audi Q2L e-tron, let us explicate this for you. Being a China-only Electric Vehicle, with ‘China’ being the keyword, the Q2L E-tron is based on the long wheelbase version of the standard Q2.  It spans a length of 4,229mm front front to back, and gets a wheelbase of 2,628mm. Comparatively, the standard version is 4,191mm long and gets a wheelbase of 2,601mm. The E-tron variant draws its power from a 100kW (135bhp) motor sending power to all four corners. Not much has yet been revealed about top speed, range, charging times.
