BMW X7 M50d Launch Date Announced

Sooner after the report revealing that the flagship SUV BMW X7 will arrive in India in 2019, we can confirm that the top-spec trim of the X7 will be badged as the M50d and landed in the Indian market on January 31, 2019. The model will be introduced at the India Art Fair which is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from January 31 to February 2.

Being the largest SUV of the automaker’s products line-up, the BMW X7 made its first premiere in a full-form vehicle at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show last November. The premium sports utility vehicle comes with three engine options including a 265hp, 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine (xDrive 30d), a 340 hp, 3.0-litre straight-six turbocharged petrol motor (xDrive40i) along with a 400 hp 3.0-litre quad-turbo 6-cylinder diesel engine option which is equipped with the upcoming M50d. All three engine variants will deliver their power output to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission and pack with an addition off-road driving package.

More mainstream variants available with the xDrive 40i and xDrive 30d are said to be launched in September 2019. As stated by the carmaker, the 9-month long period will be the time of X7’s localization so as to lower the price of these models.

The BMW X7 is the first-ever 7-seater SUV of the German carmaker

The seven-seater SUV is expected to be the combination of luxury and versatility from the 7-series and the BMW X5. Following the X5’s cabin layout, the interior of the X7 offers a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. It also provides with the four-zone climate control, glass sunroof, parking assistance along with reversing camera assistance.

The car is highly expected to blow a new fresh air in the Indian SUVs segment

The expected price of the BMW X7 M50d stands at around Rs 1.6 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the X7 full range will directly compete against the likes of Land Rover Discover and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
