Here Are the Cars You Can Buy Online in India - New Hyundai Creta to Tata Nexon

With the entire country in the lockdown mode, the Indian auto industry is understandably in peril. The car buying process has traditionally been a mano-a-mano affair, and with people locked inside their homes, that won’t be happening anytime soon.

Thankfully, necessity has prompted carmakers to set up shop online, thus making it possible to buy a car sitting at home. Currently, the following brands allow you to buy their cars online.

Hyundai

The South Korean car giant has officially unveiled its new online platform in India, called ‘Click To Buy’, earlier this month. The platform includes over 500 dealerships all over the country, and is relatively easy to use. All the current Hyundai models, including the new Creta, Verna facelift, Elite i20, Grand i10, Aura, and Elantra, are available for sale. You can choose your model, configure your options, and then book your car online. After that, you can choose to have it delivered to your home, or to pick it up yourself from the nearest showroom.

Tata

Tata Motors has launched their own digital sales platform, ‘Click to Drive’, with over 750 participating dealerships. All the current Tata models are available there, like the new Harrier, Nexon facelift, Altroz, Tigor, and Tiago. You can choose your model, configure it, and then book it. Once that is done, a sales consultant will be assigned to guide you through the rest of the process, like lease-options, evaluation of the old car (in case you wish to avail exchange offers), and completing the paperwork. You can then get the car delivered or pick it up from the showroom yourself.

Honda

The Japanese carmaker has also recently announced its online purchase and home delivery platform for cars, dubbed "Honda from Home". The system is accessible through Honda Car India official website. Customers first have to choose the Honda car they want, then choose between the trim options. After making a selection, you'll have to choose your nearest Honda dealership. Once you do, you'll be asked to fill in and confirm your details, following which you can proceed to the payment gateway and book your car online! A sales executive would later call to confirm your booking and help you through the rest of the procedure.

Renault

Renault has also launched a new campaign for its potential new customers, called ‘Book Online Pay Later’. This service allows buyers to select their new car, choose the variant, configure and customise it, and then book it without any immediate down payment. The service also keeps the customer updated about the latest information about the company, the latest plans, offers, and bookings. You cannot, however, get the car delivered to your home as a part of the service, unless the dealership offers to do it for you.

Maruti Suzuki Arena

India's largest carmaker has also recently launched its online car booking platform for its 'Arena' range of passenger cars. The platform can be accessed through Maruti Suzuki Arena website, and the bookings are refundable upon cancellation. Sadly, there is no home delivery option available right now. The platform only supports online booking of cars. Once you complete the booking process and make the payment, you'll receive a booking ID. A sales executive would then be assigned to you and will guide you through the rest of the purchase.

Volkswagen

German car giant Volkswagen has also introduced its online portal for purchasing cars. There is the option of booking a car online and then visiting the showroom yourself to receive it, and there is also the choice of pick-up and delivery services, for dropping your car home. The company claims that for online security, the company will verify all the transactions via an OTP-based system. To address additional safety and sanitary concerns, all the cars and facilities are reportedly disinfected daily.

BMW

Luxury carmaker BMW has decided to up their luxury factor by allowing customers to shop for new cars online, complete with home delivery. Just visit the official website, choose your car model, configure and accessorise it, choose your nearest dealership, and then make the purchase. The car will be delivered by the company to the chosen dealer, who will then deliver your car to your doorstep.

Jeep

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India has also launched its own online car buying portal. The platform, known as 'Book my Jeep', allows consumers to book their cars online and have them delivered to their doorstep, after a thorough sanitization of course! The 'Touch Free' retail experience also offers online booking for test drives, and even the test vehicle is brought straight to your home for added convenience. For maximum customer and employee safety, each test car is reportedly cleaned and disinfected after every drive.
