Citroen Berlingo MPV was recently spotted on Delhi roads during its regular routine testing. It is expected that the French car brand will soon launch this model in our market.

Citroen is all set to enter the Indian market with the C5 Aircross. The C5 Aircross will be the first vehicle of the French car brand in our market. Following the launch of this model, Citroen expects to bring a new sub-four-meter compact SUV to our market. While both of these models are yet to arrive at our shores, we have spotted another model, a 7-seater MPV on Indian roads. Called Berlingo, this MPV was seen on the roads of the national capital.

Citroen Berlingo MPV is likely to be the next Citroen car to enter the market after the sub-four-meter compact SUV

Recently, Citroen Berlingo was caught on camera while running on the Delhi roads without camouflage. Even though the badge of the car was hidden by tapes, it is not hard to point out, this car is a Citroen model. On the front end, the spied MPV gets vertically-split headlamps and trapezoidal air vents on the bumper. For the side profile, the Citroen Berlingo features a blacked-out A-pillar while the B and C pillars are painted in white. The black plastic cladding on the side body receives a unique while trapezoidal-shaped highlight. The rear end of the MPV features a simple design that looks quite similar to regular minivans with an upright boot lid and boxy vertically-stacked taillight. This model is currently available in the international market as a mid-size MPV.

If launched, Citroen Berlingo will rival against the Toyota Innova Crysta and Maruti Ertiga

Under the hood, the international-spec Citroen Berlingo is offered with two engine choices, 110 BHP 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 130 BHP 1.5-litre diesel unit. Developed on the EMP2 platform of Groupe PSA, Citroen Berlingo is offered in two versions, standard Berlingo and Berlingo XL. Measuring 4.75 meters, the latter is longer than the 4.4 meters length of the standard model. The spied model appears to be the XL version.

For the Indian market, it is unlikely that Citroen will introduce the shorter version of the Berlingo. It is likely to come under the form of the longer 7-seater model. At this length, the Berlingo will take on the Toyota Innova Crysta, Mahindra Marazzo, and Maruti Ertiga. The test mule is reported to be the base variant with 1.2-litre turbocharged-petrol drivetrain. The same engine is also expected to power the upcoming Citroen CC21 compact SUV.
