Ford Aspire CNG Option Launched at Rs 6.27 lakh

Ford is going to pull out the CNG version of the Aspire in India. At the starting price of Rs 6.27 lakh, the addition of CNG option on Aspire’s range will spice up the rivalry with Maruti Dzire in the sub-4-meter sedan segment as the Maruti’s sedan is going to be offered with CNG engine too.

Ford’s new engine offer is expected to hike up the sales volume especially in the taxi segment. CNG kit available on the Aspire is provided by Lovato. The company will also take charge of the instalment of the CNG conversion kit on the Aspire 1.2-litre engine. This kit will come with a 1,00,000km warranty. Ford claims to a 46 paise/km maintenance cost for the CNG kit.

The Aspire is currently available in five grades, which are Ambiente, Trend, Trend+, Titanium and Titanium+.  However, only the standard Ambiente and Trend+ variant will get the new CNG updates. CNG kit will be available for the petrol engine. At the moment, Aspire’s 1.2-litre engine is able to make 96 PS and 120 Nm of torque. And this unit comes packed with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The CNG version will come with the following features like

• 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation system

• Automatic climate control

•  Audio controls mounted steering wheel

• Rear-view camera

• Power adjustable and folding ORVMs

• Front fog lamps and rear defogger

Besides, on the CNG version on the taxi segment, the Aspire will be equipped with speed governor which will not allow the driver to exceed 80 km/h.

The Ford Aspire Ambiente CNG is priced at Rs 7.12 lakh, which is Rs 72,414 more expensive than the previous model while the mid-range Trend Plus rates at Rs 7.12 lakh. The Trend Plus CNG is Rs 52,414 higher than the ongoing model.

It is likely that the Figo will also get its own CNG version, possibly after the facelift updates. The facelift Figo will be launched next month.
