In 2016, Hyundai Brazil surprised everyone by revealing the Hyundai Creta STC (Sports Truck Concept) at that year's Sao Paulo Auto Show. While the pickup truck concept did not make it to the production, we won't be surprised to see the carmaker planning a similar version of the 2020 Hyundai Creta. The second generation of the popular SUV made it to the Indian market earlier this month and retails at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) as part of the introductory offer.

A rendering above visualizes the 2020 Hyundai Creta in a pickup truck avatar. While the front-end has remained largely unchanged, save for a more rugged bumper, the side profile is largely similar to that of the Creta STC. Moreover, thanks to the thoroughly revised design, which is based on the 'Sensuous Sportiness' theme, the new-gen SUV looks bolder in the single-cab pickup truck format than its previous generation.

In India, the 2020 Hyundai Creta has been off to a pretty strong start with the manufacturer having garnered more than 14,000 bookings in a matter of couple of weeks. The latest model shares its architecture and the engine options with the Kia Seltos. The base-level variant features a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, while the diesel version gets its juice from a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit. The top-spec version is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. While the standard transmission option for both the 1.5-litre engines is that of a 6-speed manual unit, the petrol and diesel motors are even optionally available with a CVT and a 6-speed automatic unit, respectively. The turbo-petrol motor, however, is exclusively on sale with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit with steering-mounted paddle shifters.
