Honda Cars Prices To Be Hiked From 1st July 2019

Honda Cars India Ltd (HICL) has announced its plan to increase the prices of its products across the line-up from July 2019. That said, from the beginning of next month, prices of all Honda models will be hiked up by 1.2 per cent. This plan comes to offset the adverse effect of new safety norms as well as the increased production costs resulted from the increase in prices of raw materials.

Honda Cars India is planning to increase the prices of all its vehicles by July 2019.

To recap, with the immediate implementation of new stringent safety norms, all four-wheelers should be equipped with driver’s airbag, seatbelt reminders and speed alert from July 1, 2019. Many carmakers have already started upgrading their vehicles to meet the upcoming safety norms.

The Japanese carmaker, Honda has also made some massive revisions in its models like the City sedan, all the ways to make it compliant to the new regulations. It is now available with the high-speed warning, seatbelt alert as standard and interestingly, prices of the sedan remain unchanged. Presently, the domestic product lineup of Honda includes the Honda Amaze, Jazz, Brio, WR-V, BR-V, City, CR-V, Civic and Accord. The prices of Honda vehicles stand between Rs 4.73 Lakh to Rs 43.21 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The company's decision to jack up the prices stemmed from the escalated costs of raw materials and upgrading expenses for new safety norms.

Speaking about the HCIL’s plan, the company is gearing up for the introduction of the HR-V SUV in India. The all-new SUV will come to rival the likes of Tata Harrier, Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. Also, the Japanese carmaker is working on the new-generation Honda City that is scheduled to hit the market sometime next year. Since the new BSVI emission standards will come into effect on April 1, 2020, the new-gen City will come up with two BSVI-ready engine options including a 1.5-litre i-DTEC and 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel units.
