Hyundai Elantra Base Model Price Hiked By Rs 2.6 Lakh

Hyundai has increased the prices of the entry-level Elantra by 2.6 lakh offered in the Indian market. The premium sedan competes with the likes of Honda Civic and Skoda Octavia.

Hyundai India has increased the starting price of the Elantra by Rs 2.6 lakh. With this price hike, the car has lost its title of most affordable global compact sedan against the Honda Civic. Earlier the premium sedan was offered in three different trim levels namely- S, SX and SX(O). Now, the carmaker has discontinued the S trim pushing the price of the entry-level variant by Rs 2.6 lakh. The S trim was retailed at a price tag of Rs 15.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The SX trim carries a price tag of Rs 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The automaker has not yet updated the new prices of the Hyundai Elantra. Given below are the last known priced of the car.

Hyundai has discontinued the S trim of the car in the domestic market

The automaker will soon start offering the sedan with a diesel engine option. At that time, the company will also revise the prices of the SX petrol manual, SX petrol automatic and SX(O) petrol automatic. The upcoming Hyundai Elantra diesel will feature a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi VGT unit, which puts out 115 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,750 rpm. The engine will come paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The same power plant does duties in the Hyundai Verna. The ongoing Hyundai Elantra derives power from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 150bhp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 192 Nm of twisting force at 4,000 rpm. Transmission duties will be done by a 6-speed MT or an automatic gearbox. Hyundai will sell the diesel Elantra in the Indian market in two different variants namely- SX (manual) and SX(O) (automatic). The premium sedan rubs shoulder with likes of Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis and Skoda Octavia. Skoda will introduce the new-gen Octavia by the first half of 2021. The carmaker first showcased the all-new sedan in November last year.
