American carmaker Jeep is facing massive sales slump and the bread-earner model Compass is facing competition from new newly launched premium mid-size SUVs Hector and Harrier.

Many of you may know that most of the car manufacturers in the Indian automobile industry are facing negative sales growth as there's hardly any car or manufacturer which is not affected by this storm. The American automaker Jeep is one such brand which is facing a difficult time because the brand has reported a massive sales drop of 59% in July 2019 as compared to the sales of July 2018. Jeep Indian offers cars like Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Compass. The Jeep Compass is among the top-selling SUV in the company's portfolio. The drop in sales of Jeep means that the Compass is performing quite poor in the market by retailing only 500 units in July 2019.

The American automaker Jeep is one such brand which is facing a difficult time because the brand has reported a massive sales drop of 59% in July 2019 as compared to the sales of July 2018.

The prime reason for this slump in sales is negative market growth but, the main reason behind this decline is the growing competition in the premium mid-size SUV segment. Previous year cars like Tata Harrier and MG Hector got introduced in our markets and, the premium SUVs took no time to fetch away the limelight from the American car manufacturer. Tata Harrier is the most premium SUV in the company's lineup and, the brand manages to retail around 1500+ units of the SUV every month.

On the other hand, India's first internet car MG Hector has become India's 10th top-selling car brand and, the company has received around 21,000 bookings. MG dispatched 1500+ units of the Hector in July 2019. The MG Hector and Tata Harrier are priced under 13 lakh. Meanwhile, the Jeep compass gets retailed at an initial price of Rs 15 lakh. Moreover, both the cars are bigger and has a strong road presence as compared to the Compass. The Jeep compass draws power from a four-cylinder, Multijet Turbo, 2.0-litre motor which also powers the Harrier and Hector. The unit equipped in Compass develops 172 bhp of power and 350 Nm of twisting force. The engine comes paired with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard.
