1. AC Cobra (USA)
Initially incorporated as Auto Carriers Ltd., AC Cars is a British automaker and one of the oldest independent auto manufacturers in Britain. The AC Cobra, known as the Shelby Cobra in the USA, is a British-American sports car with a FordV8 motor which was produced in both the US and UK since 1962. AC Cobra is one of the few cars in the world that features a cobra in its logo. The logo includes a cobra in the centre and a “COBRA” lettering in the lower part of the logo.
The Ford Mustang Shelby is a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang built by Shelby American from 1965 to 1968 and by Ford from 1969 to 1970. The fifth-gen Ford Mustang was introduced in 2005 and the Shelby nameplate was revived as a new high-performance variant which was developed by Ford.
The Ford Mustang Shelby uses the Cobra emblem on its logo. The full version of the logo includes a cobra surrounded by a circle. In the centre of the logo, an aggressive Shelby lettering is positioned over or below the snake. All the letters of the lettering are capitals and had the same height.
Nevertheless, on the cars themselves, the logo was usually given without a circle. Generally, the logo is placed on the front grille. A cobra symbol has been utilized in many countries to represent royalty and hidden wisdom, gracefulness and speed, or transformation and immortality as mentioned above.
Zarooq is named after the fastest snake in Arabia. Being a United Arab Emirates automaker, Zarooq Motors is based in Mumbai and is the first one to produce the platform and assemble a production-series car in the UAE. Zarooq advertises themselves as "Supercars Born In the Desert", which can be associated with their origins in the UAE, a well-known country for its desert and passion for luxury hypercars. Its car logo consists of a snake head in the centre with some curves around which creates the snake’s body.
The Viber is manufactured by Dodge, one of the most famous sports cars in the USA. The car has experienced a transition between three car logos. The first one is the Sneaky Pete badge on the Dodge Viper RT/10 and was introduced in 1992. The snake is not overly aggressive. It seems to be observing with no plan to attack anyone.
After a 10-year period, in 2002, the Sneaky Pete was replaced by the Fangs with the head-on striking snake remained but with a more aggressive appearance. The shield shape has been kept almost intact but it has grown a bit shorter to fit the snake’s head.
The 2013 SRT Viper was introduced in April 2012 with the new Stryker logo. The snake now looks much more alive and elegant than the two former versions. The snake is facing to the left from the top, which makes the image fuller and helps the elegant curves on the animal’s head become more noticeable. Since the 2013 Viper is the most aggressive one in the lineup, the Stryker logo seems to be harmonious with the car.
Being one of the Italian luxury car brands, Alfa Romeo is well-known for sports vehicles which have participated in car racing since 1911. Alfa Romeo’s car logo is made in round shape which surrounds a heraldic red cross in the left half, a huge snake eating a man in the right half and an ‘ALFA ROMEO’ lettering located at the top of the circle.
However, the famous Alfa Romeo's car logo with snake and cross has been experienced polarized opinions from car enthusiasts. Why has the sports car logo with snake devouring a man created a heating debate among people? The most widely accepted theory is that the man being devoured is a Saracen or Moor (a Muslim) which was being defeated in the Christian Crusades.
Above is a compilation of car logos with snake. Most of them are high-performance cars, which seem to be harmonious with the snake’s nature itself.
