Kia India Achieves New Milestone, 1 Lakh Connected Cars Sold in Indian Market

Last year, the Korean automaker Kia launched its first-ever compact SUV named as Seltos in the Indian market, and the SUV is doing quite good in terms of overall sales. After Kia Seltos, the carmaker launched two new products in the market- Carnival (Premium MPV) and Sonet (sub-4-meter-SUV). As per recent reports, Kia Motors India has achieved a new milestone as the automaker has retailed more than 1 lakh connected cars. Kia has now become the first-ever carmaker in India to achieve this milestone. The Kia cars equipped with UVO connected car technology contributes more than 55 per cent of the company's total sales in the country.

Moreover, the top-selling connected car trim in the automaker’s stable is the Seltos GTX Plus DCT. This particular trim of the SUV alone contributed nearly 15 per cent of Kia’s total connected car sales. Kookhyun Shim, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kia Motors India said, "For today’s internet-savvy generation, a car should be their extension in every aspect including connectivity which can ease mobility. Our advanced UVO connected technology is a breakthrough effort in this direction which integrates smart devices with our cars for enabling a seamless, safer and memorable drive experience. Technology has always been at the focal point since our maiden launch in the country, and we are elated to achieve one more milestone in-car connectivity."

The carmaker has recently launched its all-new sub-4-meter SUV in our market named as Sonet. In its segment, it rivals with the likes of Nissan Magnite, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. It derives power from 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former develops 83 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, while the latter is offered in two states of tune and it puts out 100 PS/240 Nm and 115 PS/250 Nm. The petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT, and the diesel unit comes paired with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed MT. The SUV is also offered with a smaller 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor that produces power and torque outputs of 120 PS and 172 Nm, respectively. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed iMT or 6-speed DCT.
