50% Of All Kia Seltos Sold Have Automatic Transmission

According to Kia, almost 50% of total Seltos sold are equipped with an automatic transmission.

The Kia spokesperson further added, “We expect the demand to rise even further due to the widespread adoption of automated manual transmission (AMT), which has bridged the gap between automatic and manual cars. However, the carmaker said that the preference for automatic cars is gender agnostic and completely depends on the preference of the customer. Furthermore, the company said,"Our latest offering, the Kia Carnival premium MPV, comes with an automatic transmission only and has been received well in the Indian market with a good boost to our sales numbers. This only shows the growing popularity of automatic cars amongst Indian customers.”

The Seltos is offered with 3 engine options. The most affordable one here is the 1.5L 4-cylinder N/A petrol motor, belting out 113 BHP/ 144Nm and can be had mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The next on the list is a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo-diesel that belts out 113 BHP/250 Nm and is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter based automatic transmission. The most powerful one on the offer is the 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol mill that has a peak power output of 138 BHP and a max. torque of 242 Nm. It can be had either with a 6-speed stick shift or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The prices for the Seltos start at Rs. 9.89 lakh for the base-spec HTE variant and go all the way to Rs 17.34 lakh for the top-spec GTX+ variant. However, the price difference between the manual and automatic version of respective variants is around Rs. 1.00 lakh, which isn’t much, considering the convenience an AT offers.
