Mahindra will increase the prices of its SUV line-up from January 1, 2021. In the following year, there are also some new Mahindra vehicles which will be launched in the country.
Recently, various car brands including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia and Mahindra & Mahindra have confirmed their plans to increase the prices of their vehicles from the beginning of 2020. Mahindra has lately joined in and announced upcoming price changes across its range from January 1, 2021.
Mahindra & Mahindra will increase the prices for its vehicles from January 1 2021
As usual, Mahindra & Mahindra has cited the increase of materials and manufacturing cost as the reason for the upcoming price hike. The price increase will be applied to all vehicles offered on Mahindra’s line-up. However, the updated prices are not revealed yet.
In 2020, Mahindra has focused on renewing its range of vehicles. Apart from the BSVI updates, Mahindra also has some big new-gen launches. One of them is the second-gen Mahindra Thar which is a major hit in the car market during the second half of 2020.
The new Thar was launched in October at the starting price of Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the introductory prices were only available until December 1. As the entry-level AX variant was discontinued, Mahindra Thar is now on sale from Rs 11.90 lakh onwards. The new SUV receives such overwhelming responses that there is a significant shortage of supply. To meet the increasing demand, Mahindra has to ramp up the production to 3,000 units per month. Even so, the waiting period for the Mahindra Thar has gone up to 10 months.
Mahindra Thar is a huge success for Mahindra this year
In the following year, Mahindra is set to launch a couple of new models, including the new-gen Scorpio and XUV500. Moreover, it is likely that the electric version of XUV300 will hit the market next year. It is also expected that Mahindra will pull the plug on the flagship Alturas G4 in our market. Other passenger vehicles on Mahindra’s range include Bolero, KUV100 NXT, XUV300 and Marazzo.
It is also worth noticing that Mahindra is now offering some attractive discounts across its portfolio. Especially for the soon-to-be-discontinued Alturas G4, Mahindra is offering a massive discount of Rs 3.06 lakh. If you are planning to buy Mahindra cars, it is probably the right time to do so.
