Maruti S-Cross is expected to receive a major update in 2023. The new S Cross will come with new styling enhancement as well as powertrain updates. It is expected to regain the diesel engine option.

First launched in 2015, the Maruti S Cross was the first product to be distributed through the Nexa outlets. The crossover SUV is not listed among the most popular vehicles in Maruti Suzuki’s line-up. Even though the SUV segment has witnessed a rise in terms of popularity, Maruti S Cross does not receive much attention from the customers. Since launch, the crossover has been on sale with only a few updates. However, it is expected that the S Cross will receive an extensive makeover in the future.

As far as we know, the upcoming Maruti S Cross is codenamed Maruti YFG. This model will come with major aesthetic upgrades along with mechanical changes. In addition, there will also be feature additions for the new S Cross.

Currently, Maruti S Cross is powered by a 1.5L, 4-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine which is capable of making 105PS of maximum power and 138Nm of top peak. This petrol engine comes with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or 4-speed torque converter unit. Prior to the BSVI implementation, the Maruti S Cross was once a diesel-exclusive model.

Last year, Maruti Suzuki discontinued all of its diesel models due to the high cost for upgrading diesel engines to meet the BSVI emission norms. However, after realizing the undying demand for diesel vehicles, Maruti Suzuki is ready to bring the diesel cars back to its range. With the return of the diesel engines on Maruti Suzuki’s line-up, it is likely that the new Maruti S Cross will go on sale with diesel option along with the existing petrol hybrid powertrain. It is expected that a new dual-clutch transmission will be introduced on the new Maruti S Cross as well.
