Maruti Suzuki has crossed the 20 lakh exported units this year
The company exported the first vehicle in FY1986-87. Over the years, it is estimated that the car company has exported over 20 lakh units to the international market. These include some extremely popular vehicles like Swift, Vitara Brezza, Dzire, Jimny, S-Presso and more. Commenting on this latest accomplishment, Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said:
“The Company is committed to Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s vision of Make-in-India. The 20 lakh vehicle exports from Maruti Suzuki are a testimony of the same. Maruti Suzuki has been exporting vehicles for the past 34 years much before India became a prominent player in the global automobile business. This early global exposure helped the Company enhance its quality and attain global benchmarks.”
He also added that the models manufactured by the India facility found trust and high acceptance of the international customers owing to the strict compliance with the global quality, safety, design and technology standards. According to him, Maruti has “aligned itself with the evolving needs of customers in African and Latin American nations". In the future, with a line of new upcoming models to enter the market soon, they expect to attract customers in new segments and reach the next milestone at a much faster pace.
Maruti Suzuki has found a huge following in the emerging markets in the last decade
Previously, Maruti Suzuki India Limited had crossed the 10 lakh units exported in FY2012-13. Back then more than haft of the exports came from the European countries. Beyond this point, the company has focused more on emerging markets like Africa, Asia and Latin America, which has contributed greatly to the subsequent 10 lakh exported units. In the past few years, Maruti Suzuki has gained significant growth in Indonesia, Chile, South Africa and Sri Lanka. Some models like Alto, Swift, Baleno and Dzire has become very popular there.
Back to the Indian market, Maruti has just launched the facelift of its popular hatchback, Maruti Swift. This year, Maruti also has a plan to update some of their existing models and add a few brand new models to its line-up.
