This month, Maruti Suzuki is offering an attractive discount scheme for its best-selling SUV Maruti Brezza. The discount can go up to Rs 1 lakh.

For a long time, Maruti Vitara Brezza had successfully secured its segment-leading position with barely any compatible rivals. However, the situation quickly changes after Hyundai, the second largest car manufacturer launched its first sub-four-meter SUV, the Hyundai Venue. The new model has taken the market by storm and overthrown the long reign of Maruti Brezza to become the best-selling model in the segment. Threatened by the Venue, Maruti has pulled out a massive discount in hope to regain the first place in the segment.

Maruti Vitara Brezza is facing stiff competition from the Hyundai Venue

Launched in May 2019, Hyundai Venue has gained over 50,000 bookings within a short time. One month after launch, the new SUV has kicked the Brezza off the number one place. In July, Hyundai Venue amassed the total sales of 9,585 units. Before the Hyundai Venue entered the market, the sub-four-meter segment also sees the rise of the Mahindra XUV300 which had shortly become the second best-selling model. It has been a tough time for Maruti Brezza as many competitive rivals are eyeing to capture a chunk of this lucrative market.

This month, Maruti BRezza is offering huge benefits including a direct cash discount of Rs 50,000, an exchange bonus of Rs 21,000 and Rs. 10,000 corporate offer. It is hoped that by offering attractive discounts, Maruti Suzuki can offer push the sales of the Brezza. Apart from a huge discount, Maruti Brezza is also currently available with three year extended warranty alongside the standard two-year warranty.

Maruti Brezza will come with new 1.5-litre K15 four-cylinder SHVS petrol engine

Maruti Brezza is currently available with one 1.3-litre four-cylinder diesel engine only. This engine can generate a maximum power of 90 PS and 200 Nm. It comes with two gearbox options, a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT transmission. However, this diesel engine will be discontinued. This old diesel engine will be replaced by a new BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre K15 four-cylinder SHVS petrol engine which has been used in the new Ciaz and the Ertiga since last year. Even since its launch, Maruti Brezza has always been a diesel-only model. Due to the new emission norms, Maruti is changing its entire engine line-up and restricts the use of diesel motors.
