Maruti Vitara Brezza Outsells Hyundai Venue

The sub-4-meter SUV space is the most competitive and fastest-growing segments in India. This segment is popular among the buyers because people get an SUV-like car at an aggressive price tag. Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue are among the top-selling SUVs in this segment. As per recent report, Maruti Vitara Brezza was the top-selling sub-4-meter SUV in India. The carmaker manages to retail 11,274 units of the SUV. The SUV has seen 104 per cent YoY growth as compared to units sold in the same month last year. On the other hand, Hyundai retailed 10,722 units of Venue in March 2021.

The overall units of Venue sold in the Indian market last month are slightly less than that of the Vitara Brezza, but the Hyundai SUV has seen a YoY growth of 75 per cent as compared to the units sold in March 2020. Hyundai Venue and Maruti Vitara Brezza are among the top-selling cars in India last month. Talking about the Maruti SUV, it derives power from a 1.5-litre gasoline unit, which develops 103bhp of power and 138 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. On the other hand, Hyundai Venue is powered by 1.2-litre petrol, 1.4-litre diesel and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor.

The 1.2-litre gasoline motor puts out power and torque outputs of 83bhp and 115, while the oil-burner churns out 90 PS and 220 Nm of twisting force. The former comes paired with a 5-speed MT, while the latter comes mated to a 6-speed MT. The more powerful 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor develops 120 PS of peak power and 172 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT, 7-speed DCT or an iMT. In terms of dimension, the sub-4-meter SUV is 3,995 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, 1,590 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. It gets retailed at a starting price of Rs 6.86 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
