The Maruti XL6 sits on the lightweight Heartect platform. While based on the Ertiga, it comes with a six-seater layout instead of the seven-seater setup of the donor vehicle. This is due to the second row of the XL6 featuring two individual captain seats.

As promised by the Indo-Japanese manufacturer, the Maruti XL6 features a premium interior and exterior which sets it apart from the original model. The XL6 comes with sharper LED headlamps, dual horizontal chrome bar on the grille, front bumper skid plate and rectangle fog lamps. Some other cosmetic highlights include sleek LED DRLs, black wheel arch cladding, black-out 15-inch alloy wheels, rear skid plate along with an XL6 badge on the boot lid. Maruti XL6 is available with six colour options, namely, Auburn Red, Brave Khaki, Premium Silver, Nexa Blue, Magna Grey, and Arctic White.

On the inside, the interior is adorned with a black and beige scheme that looks absolutely upmarket. Maruti makes use of premium materials like black leather upholstery for the seat, faux wood trim, and silver accent on the dashboard, steering wheels and so on. On the dashboard, Maruti XL6 features a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android support, cruise control, automatic climate control as well as a MID unit. Apart from these, Maruti XL6 will be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, electric stability program, front seatbelt reminder, ISOFIX child seat mounts, reverse parking camera with sensor, and high speed warning system.

About the powertrain, Maruti XL6 derives power from a 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15 petrol engine with a smart hybrid system. The provision of mild hybrid technology on the new Maruti XL6 is in compliance with Maruti’s strategy to cut down the emission level of its products. This engine can put out a maximum power of 104 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm and can be paired with either a standard five-speed manual gearbox or an optional four-speed torque converter automatic unit. Maruti XL6 starts right out with a BSVI-ready powertrain ahead of the implementation of the new norms. You can stay tuned to IndianAuto.com for a test drive review of the XL6.
