New-gen Toyota Land Cruiser To Debut This August

The well-known Toyota Land Cruiser, which is also the Japanese automaker’s oldest model, will receive a new generation this August. Noteworthily, the SUV has been on sale in the Indian auto market since 1951 and the current-gen model has been available for more than 12 years.

The new-gen Toyota Land Cruiser will receive an updated design and new motors.

According to a recent report, the next-gen model will receive its power from a hybrid system that consists of a 3.5-litre V6 gasoline burner and an electric motor which can deliver a combined output of 295 HP against 356 Nm. In the new model, the 10-speed AT unit will replace the 8-speed AT one. The 4.5-litre V9 turbo oil burner is also expected to be upgraded in the new model for some markets.

The new-gen Land Cruiser will be supported by Toyota’s TNGA modular chassis which has already underpinned some modern Toyota cars. This new platform, apart from the ability to open some extra space for the rear-seat passengers, will also result in a remarkable decrease in weight so that the power figure’s reduction can be compensated for.

As regards the design, the 2020 Land Cruiser will have a contemporary exterior. While the current boxy silhouette will be kept intact, the new model will come with a new trapezoidal grille. The cabin will have two or three seat rows, depending on the market. Some of the outstanding features of the SUV include Toyota’s Safety Sense driver assistance package which includes accident avoidance and pedestrian detection technology. This system can help the car avoid an accident even when the driver cannot respond properly.
