At the reception of the upcoming norms on emission and safety, an array of vehicles will have to upgrade their current powertrain and safety package. These also include a range of off-roaders, some of which have very basic equipment in terms of safety. Therefore, the Force Gurkha must be updated with more safety features and of course, new engine. However, as the current version won't be able to support these updates,

Force Gurkha will receive extensive updates this year

To come in terms with the new crash test, Force will rework its architecture and enhance the chassis and body panel. Also, Force Gurkha will also come a long way in terms of safety features. Now, Forde Gurkha will get ABS, driver side airbags, speed warning alarm, seat belt alert and rear parking sensors across the band.

In addition to the new safety features, Force Gurkha will be available with new interior features. Steering mounted controls, music system, power windows will also be added to the package, giving a better comfort for the passengers. Besides, Force will introduce better material for the interior. Above all, Force Gurkha will not miss this opportunity to sharpen its strong point – the off-road capacity. Also, the exterior will be revamped for better

The ongoing version is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine. To the new iteration, the Mercedes-Benz-sourced motor will be reworked to meet the upcoming emission norms. At the moment, this engine is good for 140 PS and 321 Nm. This engine is currently deployed by the top-spec Xtreme variant. The lower-range grades are powered by a 2.5-litre engine that churns out 86 PS and 320 Nm. However, this engine stands little chance to make it to the next stage in Gurkha’s life. The new Gurkha is expected to carry forward the 5-speed gearbox and the all-wheel-drive system.

The production of the Force Gurkha will be commenced in December this year. In 2020, it will debut at the Auto Expo show along with the new Mahindra Thar, which is Gurkha’s biggest rival.
