The new Creta and its mechanical twin Kia Seltos are among the top 3 best-selling cars of India for the month of June 2020.
Last month, Hyundai began the deliveries of the new-gen Hyundai Creta across the nation. Shortly after that, the new Creta beat all of its rivals including the Maruti Suzuki cars to become the best-selling car of India. For the month of June 2020, the new Hyundai Creta along with Kia Seltos managed to make it to the top three bestsellers of the country.
Hyundai sold a total of 7,208 units of the Creta in the month of June, making it the second largest-selling car of India, just behind the Maruti Alto. Do note that, the Alto, albeit being the country’s bestseller in June 2020, reported sold only 80 units more than the Creta. The Maruti Alto sales were at 7,291 units in the same month. Kia Seltos bagged the third spot in the sales chart with as many as 7,114 units sold in the same period.
The ongoing health crisis, with the countrywide lockdown, has wreaked havoc on almost every sector including the automobile industry. Since the virus threat still remains, the buyer sentiments have gone down harshly during the lockdown, causing them to put a hold on their decision of buying new vehicles.
It comes as a bit of bad luck as Hyundai launched its second-gen Creta in March this year, just a couple of days before the lockdown came into force. Thankfully, with the manufacturers’ massive promotional campaigns, we have been seeing the Creta and Seltos revising the customer affinity and affirming that the car sales will surely continue counting up in the coming months.
The Creta and Seltos share their engine and transmission options with each other. Both of the cars get the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel motors along with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit, churning out the similar power and torque figures. The only difference between the two is the gearbox option for the turbo-petrol engine.
While the Creta turbo-petrol can only be had with a 7-speed DCT, the turbocharged Kia Seltos offer the option of a 6-speed MT alongside the 7-speed DCT. Currently, the 2020 Hyundai Creta is priced at around Rs 9.99 – 17.2 Lakh while the Seltos is positioned from Rs 9.89 – 17.34 Lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
