Renault Duster Turbo Engine Specifications Revealed Ahead of Launch

After making its domestic debut at the Auto Expo 2020, the Renault Duster Turbo is all set to go on sale in India this month. The new powerful variant of the Duster will bring in an all-new turbocharged petrol engine option and few cosmetic tweaks along the line. Shortly ahead of its launch, engine details of the Renault Duster Turbo have been revealed by the French carmaker. The upcoming compact SUV’s new variant will come with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine option that features a dual variable valve timing along with direct injection technology for the superior performance.

This engine will be tuned to produce 153 BHP of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque, making it the most powerful model of its segment. Do note that the engine has been co-developed by Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and Daimler alliance and the same is powering the Nissan Kicks as well. Transmission duties on the Duster Turbo petrol will be taken over by a 6-speed MT and an X-Tronic CVT with manual mode.

Renault decided to offer the new turbo-petrol engine on its flagship SUV, Duster as a replacement of the old K9K diesel unit. This 1.5-litre oil burner is not upgraded to the new BS6 norms and has been taken off its shelves in the Indian market.

No other major changes will be made to the upcoming Renault Duster Turbo and we expect to carry the same design cues from the showcased model. That said, the final version will receive sporty red accents on its front grille and tailgate. Red highlights will also make ways to the dashboard and upholstery on the inside of the SUV, all to differentiating it with the 1.5-litre petrol variants.

The feature package will be exactly the same as what’s offered on the existing model. Features like front fog lamps, power-folding wing mirrors, auto climate control, height-adjustable front seat belts, cruise control, rear parking camera, electronic stability program, etc. will continue to be available on the range-topping RxZ trim of the vehicle.
