Renault Triber MPV, which is based on the Kwid hatchback, finally broke covers earlier this month and will launch in the coming weeks

Renault’s new MPV was finally revealed on 19 June. It is likely that the French manufacturer will launch this entry-level MPV in India in the coming weeks. Besides the domestic market, Renault will also bring Triber to other countries as well.

Renault Triber is haft-SUV and half-MPV. The seven-seater has the big seating capacity of an MPV but features a buffed and robust design of an SUV. On the fascia, Renault Triber receives the signature V-shape grille of Renault. Two projector headlamps located on the two ends of the grille adds to the overall butch design of the Triber. On the lower part of the front face, Triber features a black honey-comb lower grille and foglight housing with LED DRLs and skid plate. The bonnet is heavily sculptured with sharp ceases, just like suggested by the earlier teaser. The MPV, from the side view, looks really cools with black plastic cladding on the door and wheel arch, roof rails and 15-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

Renault Triber’s exterior design is a mixture SUV and MPV

On the inside, the Triber gets a minimalistic, uncluttered design with all simplified elements on the dashboard. On the centre of the dashboard sits an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supported by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets 3.5-inch MID and passive keyless entry. About the safety fitments, Renault Triber comes with four airbags and rear parking camera.

Thanks to the wide wheelbase, the Renault Triber confidently illustrates roomy interior space which might be considered as segment-leading. With the removable third row, it could offer extendable boot room. If the third row is removed, the 84-litre storage compartment could be increased, going up to 625 litres. Besides, the roof rails are not just a decorative feature. It could hold up to 50-kilogram load.

Renault Triber is claimed to get the best-in-class interior room

Dimensionally, Renault Triber measures at 3,990 mm in length, 1,739 mm in width and 2,643 in height. The wheelbase measures at 2,636 mm. It sports the ground clearance of 182 mm which is better than its rival Datsun Go+ (170 mm).

Underpinned the new MPV is the CMF-A platform which could be found on the hatchback Renault Kwid. About the engine options, Renault Triber is powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine. This engine is good for the maximum power for 72 PS and 96 Nm. There are two transmission options available, a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit. The price of the Renault is expected to start around 5 lakh.
