Codenamed QXi, Hyundai Styx will debut at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. Some details on the engine offer are revealed ahead of their official unveiling event.

In India, Hyundai Styx will be launched with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Other options include 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engine. So, the Styx will come with two petrol engines and one diesel engine on offer.

The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor promised for the India market is expected to put out 100bhp and 170Nm of torque. The power coming out from this engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox, making it the only model to offer dual-clutch transmission in its class. Other automatic offers in the segment normally come with AMT or torque converter unit. It is earlier suggested that Hyundai Styx would be available with AMT unit, however, the company has changed its strategy and replace with a DCT to provide a more premium experience to their customers.

Dual clutch is priced at a premium range, therefore, it would push up the price of the Styx. Previously, Ford also proposed a dual clutch transmission for the EcoSport but this offer is short-lived and went out of production due to the low demand in the segment. Hopefully, Hyundai Styx would find itself a stable niche market out of the compact SUV.

The 1.4-litre petrol engine which is borrowed from the Verna could generate 99PS and 132Nm while the diesel unit has 89PS and 220Nm on tap. The oil burner is shared among the Hyundai Elite i20 and i20 Cross too. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be available as the standard transmission option along with the optional dual-clutch gearbox.

About the interior and exterior of the upcoming Styx, Hyundai is going to bring on a considerably rich feature list. Exterior wise, it would be equipped with LED tail lamps and dual headlight setup. Inside the car, the interior is likely to take clues from other models like Santa Fe or Kona. Besides, it is expected to be loaded with some goodies like large touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, seats with ventilation function, wireless charging, rear air vents and sunroof.
