Volkswagen Passat Production Shelved Due To Poor Sales

Launched in 2017, the lastest-gen Volkswagen Passat has now been discontinued due to its poor sales to give way for the new-gen model.

The German automaker has shelved the Volkswagen Passat’s production; therefore, only a few dealers are offering the sedan in a great number. The new-gen Volkswagen Passat is now expected to be introduced in the foreseeable future. In terms of the exterior design, the current-gen Volkswagen Passat is equipped with LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED cornering lights, 17-inch alloy rims and LED taillights. The car is available in five colours:  BlueOak Brown, Mangan Grey, Pyrit Silver, Deep Black, Onyx White and Atlantic Blue.

The current-gen Volkswagen Passat comes with a LED lighting system.

As regards the interior, the Passat’ cabin comes with a dual-tone paint scheme. It also gets Nappa leather seat coverings. The dashboard is neatly designed with a wide touchscreen infotainment system which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Some other outstanding features of the sedan consist of a panoramic sunroof, a three-zone temperature control system, a blue ambient lighting system, a heads-up display, ventilated front seats, etc.

The vehicle is also equipped with a wide range of top-notch interior features.

Regarding the powertrains, the Passat receives its power from a 2.0-litre 4.cyl turbo oil burner which can produce a maximum power of 174 BHP against a peak torque of 350 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission. This motor is currently compliant with the BS-IV transmission. The new-gen model in 2020 is expected to come with a BSVI-compliant motor.

The Volkswagen Passat is priced from INR 25.99 lakh to INR 33.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price range, it directly competes against the Skoda Superb.
