Volkswagen Polo and Vento get Limited Edition Models

Volkswagen India has launched new limited-edition versions of the Polo hatchback and Vento sedan. The new models, called Polo TSI and Vento TSI, are priced at Rs. 7.89 lakh and Rs. 10.99 lakh, respectively (both prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).

These new ‘TSI’ variants are based on the ‘Highline Plus’ trims of the respective models, but are priced lower than them. The Polo TSI is Rs. 13,000 cheaper than the Polo Highline Plus (MT), whereas the Vento TSI undercuts the Vento Highline Plus (MT) by a whopping Rs. 1 lakh. Under the hood, we see the same 1.0-litre, turbocharged, inline-3, petrol engine as the Highline Plus and GT trims, but the TSI versions are only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The motor is capable of generating a maximum power figure of 110 PS, while the peak torque figure is a healthy 175 Nm.

Surprisingly, even with the reduced price, the equipment level of the new TSI trims is identical to their respective ‘Highline Plus’ versions. The biggest difference between the two trims is aesthetic. Where the regular Polo and Vento have a solid colour scheme with minimalist badging, the limited edition TSI versions get decals on the side of the car, with a large ‘TSI’ sticker on each rear door. Other visual details on the car include the following – blacked-out ORVMs, honeycomb mesh design for the front grille, and a blacked-out roof. Additionally, the Polo TSI also gets a small spoiler mounted on the top of the boot hatch.

In the cabin, we get Auto-dimming IRVMs, a 6.5-inch touchscreen (with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink, Bluetooth, USB, and AUX connectivity), a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, rear AC vents,  one-touch windows, and power-folding ORVMs. The Polo TSI is available with two airbags as standard, while the Vento TSI gets four airbags. The bookings for the new Limited Edition ‘TSI’ Volkswagen models have already begun online, via VW India’s website.
