And now, we have the first reported Kia Sonet accident from Karnataka, India. Sadly for the owner, it looks like it is a brand new car as the commemorative ribbon hasn’t even been taken off.  The vehicle was travelling very swiftly on a two-lane highway when the driver lost control.

Reportedly, the vehicle rolled over a couple of times and came to a rest upside down. Since the accident happened at high speed, the car also managed to hit and uproot a light pole. Onlookers rushed to help the passengers and later overturned the car as well. The airbags weren’t deployed as it was a side-on impact. Looking at the wheels of the car, it seems to be a lower variant that doesn't come with side airbags available on the top-spec trim. The front and the left side of the car bore most of the brunt, crumpling the doors and shattering the glass. Fortunately, the A-pillar remained intact and the interior managed to remain damage-free, saving the occupants.

The HTK variant of the Sonet comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors as standard. Though if it is the higher HTK+ variant it will come with a rear parking camera as well while the models higher up in the range have additional safety features like 6 airbags, VSM, front and rear parking sensors, traction control, and driving modes as well.
