Check Out This Incredibly Detailed Wood Carving Of The Toyota Fortuner Legender - VIDEO

Toyota recently launched a mid-life facelift for the Fortuner in India which gave the SUV updated engines and added more features and creature comforts, along with a new flagship Legender variant. Ever since its launch in 2009, the Fortuner has remained the best-selling SUV in the Rs 30 – 40 lakh category. The Fortuner’s combination of imposing road presence, a high driving position, feature-packed trim levels, multiple powertrain choices and trademark Toyota reliability has made it the go-to choice. Today we came across this incredibly detailed wood carving of the Fortuner Legender.

The video has been uploaded by Woodworking Art on YouTube. After looking at the images of the new Toyota Fortuner Legender online for reference, the artist picks up a block of wood that matches with the dimensions of the printout the artist had taken earlier. He then cuts the wood into three pieces which would be used for making the front, side profile, and rear of the Legender carving. The next step is to trace the design of the side profile of the SUV on the wood and cutting it with a saw. Once an outline is carved for the side profile, excess wood is carved out for the wheel arches and doors. A piece of wood is placed between the side panels to create the front and rear.

The artist then traces the front and rear ends of the Toyota Fortuner Legender on the wood. After using power tools to get the basic outline, the finer touches and carving is done exclusively by hand. Another piece of wood is attached on the top to create a roof for the Legender. The artist then had to make some fine adjustments to get the doors, bonnet, and boot in place. Following this, he uses a chisel to neatly carve the front bumper, headlamps, grille and engine. Once the body of the Legender carving is done, the artist uses another piece of wood for the wheels and axles, using bearings to keep the tyres in place. The Legender carving also features a functioning front and rear suspension. Overall, this is an incredibly painstaking carving with the artist paying attention to detail to everything. The whole process took close to a month to be completed, and it shows.

Prices for the updated Toyota Fortuner range from Rs 30.34 lakh for the base rear-wheel-drive petrol and goes up to Rs 38.30 lakh for the new Fortuner Legender top variant. Do note all prices are ex-showroom. Powertrain choices include both petrol and diesel options. The petrol is a 2.7-litre N/A 4-pot engine which makes 165 PS/245 Nm of peak power and torque. The oil-burner is a 2.8-litre turbocharged unit that churns out max power and torque figures of 205 PS and 500 Nm. Transmission options include a 5 or 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The petrol versions along with the Legender, are available in rear-wheel-drive variants only.
