Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a couple of new models in the Indian market. Check out the Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars in 2021-22

Maruti Suzuki is the number one car manufacturer in India. The Indo-Japanese car company has dominated the market and outsold other companies by a huge margin for a long time. The car company provides a wide range of affordable vehicles which appeal to the majority of car buyers in the Indian market. Moroever, thanks to the expansive network of showrooms, service centres and good aftersales services, Maruti Suzuki is able to maintain its number one position without trouble.

However, in the last few years, the market has developed significantly. Many new car brands have entered the market, which has added to the overall dynamics and pushed the competition forward. In such constantly-changing market, the affordability which has secured the market-leading position of Maruti Suzuki might soon lose its charm. It requires Maruti Suzuki to step up its game to meet with the market’s developments. In other words, besides providing affordable entry-level models, the carmaker needs to expand its presence in other segments as well as improving the designs and equipment of its vehicles. With the urge to refresh its line-up and upgrade its game, Maruti Suzuki has been working on a new range of vehicles which will enter the market soon. Here is the list of Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars in 2021-22

Maruti Jimny

The off-roader Suzuki Jimny created a buzz among the car enthusiasts in India ever since its debut in Japan back in 2018. After the discontinuation of the Maruti Gyspy, Maruti’s famous offroad model, Indian buyers have always hoped that Maruti would bring the new Suzuki Jimny to the Indian market to fill the void left by the Gypsy. Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki has displayed the Maruti Jimny at the Auto Expo 2020 as a way to gauge the reception of the Indian audience. Last month, Maruti Jimny was spotted doing road testing on Indian roads, hinting at an imminent launch.

Maruti Jimny is expected to enter our market under the long-wheel-base form with five-door configuration. The India-spec Jimny is likely to arrive with various distinctions that tell it from the international version.

Recently, Mahindra has launched the new-gen Mahindra Thar which has created a craze in the market. Mahindra Thar is currently the only offroader model in the Indian market. It will be interesting to see how the new Maruti Jimny will fare against the Mahindra Thar in the off-roader space.

All-new Maruti Alto 800

Maruti Alto 800 is one of the key products on Maruti’s line-up. This hatchback has contributed greatly to Maruti’s total sales figure. The small hatchback is also the lowest priced model provided by Maruti in our market. Even though being a widely popular model, the Alto 800 has been around for a while without measurable updates. It is expected that Maruti will soon introduce the all-new Maruti Alto 800.

The new Alto 800 will be underpinned by the HEARTECT platform which is also used on the new-gen Maruti S-Presso, Wagon R, Ignis and more. About the powertrains, it is likely that the all-new Alto 800 will keep the same 0.8-litre engine. At the moment, the Maruti Alto 800 is available from Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 4.41 lakh.

Maruti XL5

Maruti XL5 is claimed to be the more premium version of the Maruti Wagon R. The new vehicle was spied during road testing for several times. As per the spied images, the Maruti XL5 will inherit the SUV-ish design elements like an upright stance and high ground clearance. Even though the design of the XL5 was carefully masked, some reports suggest that the XL5 will get inspiration from the Wagon R.

While the Wagon R is sold via the Arena outlets, the Maruti XL5 will be retailed under the premium Nexa dealership network. The upcoming model will get a feature-rich cabin and a fully-equipped exterior. As far as the powertrains are concerned, the XL5 is likely to derive power from the same 1.2-litre petrol engine used on the Wagon R. This BSVI engine is capable of making 82 BHP and 113 Nm. This engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. This premium hatchback is expected to command a premium over the existing Maruti Wagon R.

Mid-size SUV

It is a well-known fact that Maruti and Toyota have formed a strategic partnership. Several models have been launched under this partnership by far. Toyota, for example, has launched the Maruti-rebadged models like Toyota Glanza and Toyota Urban Cruiser. In addition, the two companies are collaborating in developing a new mid-size compact SUV for the Indian market. The new midsize SUV will be retailed under both Toyota and Maruti Suzuki’s outlets.

A C-segment MPV

According to some reports, in the next three years, Maruti and Toyota will be working together to develop a C-segment MPV. The new MPV will be positioned between the Ertiga and the XL6 on Maruti’s range. Within Toyota’s line-up, the upcoming SUV will sit lower than the Innova Crysta.

The current market has seen a growing interest in the MPV segment. Toyota Innova Crysta remains to be the segment-leading vehicles. However, the best-selling MUV gets a premium pricing, leaving a large room in the lower price range for other vehicles to break in. As the expected launch date is still far away, there is hardly anything we can anticipate about the new MPV co-developed by Maruti and Toyota. There is a lot to look for in the upcoming MPVs from Toyota and Maruti.
